Surprise Snowfall was the Cherry On Top of This Romantic Southwind Hills Wedding

May 30, 2018 | juliette

We’ve heard that rain on your wedding day is good luck, but now this Southwind Hills wedding has us wondering where snow ranks on the luck list! After weeks of praying for snow to fall on their New Year’s Eve wedding day, Jamie and Riley were greeted with a blanket of white when they arrived at the venue. The stunning white backdrop could not have been more beautiful against the pinks and peaches this couple incorporated into their wedding looks. Peyton Rainey Photography captured all the romance with an effortless and intimate quality that brought to life every perfectly curated detail. Between the rustic feel of the venue, the floral-forward decor, the bride’s gorgeous Essense of Australia lace dress and fur stole, and the subtle hints of sparkle throughout, this Oklahoma winter wedding completely stole our hearts.

I wanted our day to be full of life, love, and personality. My dad wanted our day to be full of food! We wanted all of our guests to have an amazing night to celebrate not only our marriage but a new year. I tried so hard to make everything reflect Riley and I’s relationship and I think it all came together so perfectly!

The absolute best moment of my wedding day was walking down the aisle with my dad to Riley. He couldn’t stop crying and I still don’t know how I managed to keep my tears back. My dad told me afterwards that I couldn’t stop shaking and I 100% believe that with all of the emotions that were running around inside of me!

My best wedding planning advice is to hire a wedding planner! I didn’t hire one and as the day got closer, I deeply wished I had someone to help me out. Everything still went so wonderfully, thanks to my day of coordinator, but I definitely could have saved myself tons of time and stress with hiring a planner!

We DIY’d quite a few pieces for the big day. My favorite piece, though, was our wedding guest map. My mom, aunt, and a few close friends helped put the map together about a month before the wedding. We put some wood slats together, painted a map on it, then painted our names and wedding date on it. It turned out absolutely beautiful and now hangs in our master bedroom. I love looking at it every single day!
